When are taxes due?
Taxes are due on April 15 of the following year for most people.
For example, for the tax year 2007, the due date for filing the tax return for the year 2007 is Tuesday April 15, 2008.
When are taxes not due on April 15?
Taxpayers can file for an extension to file tax returns by filing the form 4868, Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return.
By filing the tax form 4868, the taxpayer can extend his or her tax filing date for 6 months from April 15 due date.
