Where To Mail Irs Form 1040x
Question: Amended Return, Still haven't received tax refund??
I filed my 2007 taxes early 2008, filing single. Well my boyfriend and I have lived together for around 3 years. When he filed his taxes, he filed us jointly for common law marriage(we live in Alabama). I sent in Form 1040X to Amend my filing status. We mailed out the forms on April 14th and still have not received our refund or our stimulus. We have called them already about a 2 months ago and they said that they will send us a letter if something is wrong. They still haven't sent us anything. It is weird that this is happening because we already received a refund from the state, now we are just waiting for the federal refund. So our filing status must have been accepted.....The "Where's my Refund?" link on the IRS website still says that it is delayed. Is the amended return making it delayed?? I am wondering if I should give them another call? It has been 4 months since we filed. What should I do?
Answer: While the IRS says it takes 8 to 12 weeks to process an amended return, it usually takes nearer to 6 months. Since you have waited the time the IRS has told you and you have not received the letter, I would contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service. Visit the IRS web site at www.irs.gov and near the bottom of the page on the left side is a the Taxpayer Advcate Service. This is a free service and they will help you expedite the processing of your amended return by the IRS.
Where To Mail Irs Form 1040
Question: When can I expect my tax return to get back?
I am a CA resident currently living in Hampton, VA due to the fact that I am in the Navy. I had a form 1040 that I mailed off Feb 12 2010. I sent it to through the mail next day air to the IRS in Fresno, CA. How long should this process take? I've called the IRS "Where's My Refund" number about a thousand times now and still they have no information on it. I am set to deploy here in about a month how will I know if my taxes are filed in time or not? If you have any information please help. Thank you.
Answer: It takes 3-4 weeks for the IRS to have your refund information if you filed by mail, according to their article here < http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96596,00.html?portlet=4 >. You should have e-filed - you'd already have your money by now
To answer your question, you have proof that your taxes were filed on time as long as you have your proof of mailing. But whether you will get your refund before you deploy is another question. But like I said, they should have info on your refund pretty soon. If you mailed it February 12th, you're coming up on 4 weeks and they say they will have the info in 3-4 weeks. Good luck!
