Question: When should I mail my tax return?

I know the deadline is April 15th. But does that mean the IRS has to receive it by then, or do I have to have it post-dated by then? This is my first time paying and won't have anything to pay them with until a day AFTER the deadline. Hence why I'm waiting until the last minute. I really don't want to bounce a check with the IRS!

Answer: It must be postmarked on or before April 15. It does not have to be received by April 15.
