What Is An Irs Transcript

Question: Missing W2s, will Tax Transcript suffice?
I'm filing taxes for a previous year, and I'm missing the actual W2s and 1099s. I requested a Tax Transcript from the IRS, and received that.
Can I send in a copy of that Tax Transcript, plus the last paystub (which details local tax info) instead? Or do I have to fill out form 4852?
Answer: Anything that has your year-to-date totals will do, including your final paycheck.
Keep in mind that if you have special circumstances, such as a 401k, EIC or other things taken care of through your pay you won't have all the information you need on your last pay stub.
If you think your tax form is correct, you can actually send it out without the w-2's. There's no penalty.
