Bill In Taxable Form
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Electric bills are going up and the money you are making is going down because you have a lot more money to pay out when you get your check and there are no signs of things changing in today's economy.
There are other ways you can cut the power bill for your house so you have extra money to spend on other bills. Solar panels can make enough power for you to power your house so you can cut the electric bill in half or even cut out the electric bill out all together. There are many things you can do to get your electric bill out of the picture with the use of solar panels.
The first thing you need to do is to determine where you are going to set up your panel. You need to put your panel in a place where the sun is going to hit the panel all day long. If you get partial sun from time to time then you have put your panel on a swivel so it is easier to rotate so you can get the panel in direct sun as the day passes by. The solar panel has to be in direct sunlight in order for the panel to produce the maximum amount of power for your house.
Once you have the spot you are going to put your panel, then you have to build your solar panel. You can get a kit with everything you need to build it yourself online for about $200 at the least. There are other plans you can buy online or you can find some plans online for free and then you have to find the materials yourself. You can find all of the materials you need in your local junkyards or things that are lying around your house.
Now that you have built your solar panel and you picked out the spot you want to place it, now you can connect the power plant to your house. This is where your electric bill will be cut or at least reduced because if your local electric company has a program that pays you from producing power, you can actually get paid for making your own electricity.
If you can make enough power for your home and you have power that is just going to waste, look into your power company because if they have this program in place, your power bill might come in form of a check each month instead of a bill.

Taxable Annuity
Question: Can someone help my grandmother with a question she has on an annuity?
Right now, she has a lump sum in a Genworth annuity that is only returning about 4%. Any money she takes out now is taxable (it was non-taxable going in). Is there a way to transfer the balance or at least the priciple to another higher yielding annuity? What kind of fees or penalties would she be looking at? Is there another investment that may have a higher yield? Who can answer her questions... because I am clueless.
![]()
Answer: Annuities (in general) stink.
She will only be taxed on her earnings coming out. There is a 1035 exchange she can make to avoid the taxes now. There may be a redemption fee with Genworth.
Genworth is the only reliable place to find out about the exit fee. For an "exchange" for a lower fee alternative... Call Vanguard, Fidelity or T. Rowe Price.
Vanguard, Fidelity or T. Rowe Price have annuities that cost less and have many mutual funds to choose from (with different levels of risk).
These things are sold as a "tax advantage"... but in general they don't work out that way.

2009 Taxable Income Table
Some think the importance of dining tables is used only for meals. While this might be true, there are other uses as well. Let's take you through a few of those uses and you will see why picking out the best dining table is important. There are more reasons than just the normal we need a new table reasons that one should really consider the next dining table that they get.
Many women find the dining table as a sort of meeting grounds. I can't recall how many times my mom and I have sat down around the table to discuss the things that are going through my mind. There are the times that you just meet up for a midnight snack at this table. Yet, it's also the place to socialize at. Our extended family has joined at this table. Everyone has had their fair share of holiday fun. People have talked about what they did that day or what was bothering them. I think we all recall a time that we sat until we were numb.
Dining tables are also the work station. The children in my family have all done their homework at the dining room table. Mom folded laundry at this table as well. Meals were shared here, but they were also shaped here as we chopped vegetables and more. It was also considered the cooling station for pies and cookies.
At times, dining tables are more than just the workstation. They are for storage as well. You always knew in our family that since mom had a sore hip, you put everything on the table. You put your library books that needed to be taken back on this table too.
Yet, this table also had the purpose of celebrating the holidays. There were times we would put newspaper down to carve pumpkins for Halloween. There were times we'd lay the paper down again as we died Easter eggs. We made ornaments for the Christmas tree at this table.
This was also where dreams were formed. I wrote my first article at the dining table. My sister passed her first test when she studied her words at that table. We did science projects and more at that table. Everyone accomplished something like my college applications and more at that table.
Dining tables can be new. They might be picked out by the newlyweds. The now married husband and wife. The table could be older than the kids. However, it's more than just a table to eat at. Many can say that these tables are where families are formed. It's where they learn to communicate and they learn to grow. It's where living takes form.
While you might think of all the consumer reasons for needing a new dinging table, think about the personal touches. Don't let your search for dining tables are just for the heck of it or because the other one broke. Make it something that you keep up and pass on. It might sound a bit sentimental, but it's not really. It's about keeping something in the family.
