Taxable Income Calculators
Question: Why does it show that I won't receive the Child Tax Credit?
The tax refund calculator that I'm using shows a $0 in the Child Tax Credit field. In 2008 my income was $22,211 and the federal income tax withheld was $1395. I'm a single mom with one child and Head of Household. It shows the Earned Income Credit as $1,879. It also shows my taxable income as $7,211 and my Child Care Credit is $721. In the line for the Additional Child Tax Credit it shows $1,000. I'm just curious how it works.....how do I qualify for the additional but not the Child Text Credit itself? I didn't receive it last year either. Any info would be helpful because this is a little confusing. Thanks!
Answer: child tax credit isn't a refundable credit it just reduces your taxes owed.
